For the existing plunger control system spare parts were hardly available therefore it was necessary to work out a new control concept. An exact retention of the curve ganging between plunger and the machine was demand. The handling for the operator interface must be simply as possible. To keep the maintenance and service effort as low as possible, we use Siemens S7, which are already known to the electric staff.

For the central processing unit CPU we choice in the end the new S7 317T CPU. This control unit contains both a processor for the control functions and a processor for the position task. Technological functions like curve ganging, synchronized etc. are already integrated on this CPU.

The Fa. SPS GmbH developed a software packages for editing the curves. This package permits to import curves, to represent curves graphically, or to import curve data from MS-Office applications (e.g. Excel).
